Getting to know me
This site is designed and updated by me, Gustavo Ureña digital design student at The City College of New York where I am enrolled in their BFA program; expected graduation, Spring of 2009. I am currently in seach for placement as a graphic designer.
An advocate of minimal functional design, with an emphasis on typographic excellence and web standards, I designed this site to showcase my work and to improve on my XHTML/CSS skills. I’m hoping to share links to my friends’ websites along with other things that inspire me and help me solve design problems.
A few years ago, my main inspiration was photography. This has been changing little by little thanks to my curiosity and love for design. My original goal was to be a print designer, however I now enjoy designing for the web and the use of CSS. Video is also winning a part of my heart.
This Spring 2009 will be my thesis semester. I will be working on a social issue that has been bothering me quite a fews years. Stay tunned for more details...
Although I frequently collaborate with others, I’m also able to work on projects independently.

About this site
This two column grid design is a full inspiration from print design, specially newspapers like the Village Voice and also by so many great people out there like Daniel Mall and Jon Tangerine. Their minimalist design, love for good typographic approach to web standards is the future for functional, easy to navigate sites.
